About Me

Daniel Gonzales is an experience developer, public historian, and interactive programmer based in Indianapolis. For over fifteen years, he has designed and built immersive experiences from the ground up, combining archival research, oral history fieldwork, environmental design, hardware and software development, and physical fabrication to create spaces where audiences don't just encounter a story, they live inside it.

His contributions have spanned some of the Midwest's most respected cultural institutions, including the Missouri History Museum, Indiana Historical Society, and the Children's Museum of Indianapolis.

His projects have earned national recognition, including awards from the American Association of State and Local History, the Society of Professional Journalists, and the President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities. The same instincts that drive his museum work, deep research, purposeful interactivity, and a relentless focus on the visitor experience, translate directly to branded installations, experience centers, interpretive environments, and any space where storytelling and engagement matter.

Beyond the exhibit floor, Daniel is an author, speaker, and advocate for community-centered history. He has published in academic journals, public history outlets, and delivered keynote addresses at conferences across the country. His work is driven by a simple belief: the best experiences, in museums, cultural centers, or anywhere else, start with what the official record left out, and end with an audience that sees the world a little differently.
