Oral History Projection Kiosk

Oral History Projection Kiosk

A Unity-based touchscreen kiosk where visitors select oral history stories from a menu. On selection, the content is projected life-size onto multiple large Plexiglas panels positioned around the room, actors and period footage appearing simultaneously at scale, surrounding the visitor with living testimony. I carried the piece from concept to reality, handling content development, interactive design, programming, and physical installation.

RFID Record Pack Interactive

RFID Record Pack Interactive

Custom physical "record packs" (tactile objects visitors can pick up and handle), each embedded with an RFID tag, tell the different steps in the record-making process. Placing a pack in the reader triggers video content about that step's production story, connecting the physical act of handling a record to the history of how it was made. Designed to feel like discovery rather than instruction. My role spanned concept and content development, programming, hardware design, and installation.

Celebrate Indianapolis

An augmented reality mobile app developed for the Indiana Historical Society's Indianapolis bicentennial programming. Users select from 10 notable Indianapolis residents (including Major Taylor, Eli Lilly, and Madam C.J. Walker) and are guided via GPS to real city locations significant to each figure. Pointing their camera at the site triggers a Museum Theater actor portraying the historical figure, bringing their story to life in the actual place where history happened. My role focused on project management and content development, coordinating across research, theater, and technology teams to shape the narrative framework and ensure each figure's story was historically grounded and visitor-ready.

Chuck Taylor Virtual Reality

Using Oculus headsets, visitors were transported back to a 1952 Hoosier gymnasium where they could meet Chuck Taylor and participate in one of his legendary basketball clinics. As project manager and concept and content developer, I oversaw the creation of an experience that featured instruction from Harold "Bunny" Levitt, who held a national record for consecutive free throws, and Sam Richardson, one of Indiana State University's all-time leading scorers, offering a vivid glimpse into how the game's fundamentals were taught during basketball's formative years.

Directional Sound Interactive Lightboxes

A series of custom lightboxes, DMX-controlled to shift light in sync with the accompanying audio, paired with a BrightSign player handling spatial audio playback to direct sound toward specific positions in the space rather than filling the room uniformly. Designed to create an intimate, focused listening experience within a larger exhibit environment. My role spanned concept and content development, programming, hardware design, and installation.

Design Your Own Chuck Taylor

In this interactive, visitors sketched a custom shoe design on paper and placed it beneath an embedded scanner. Pressing a button to "scan" instantly added the design to a digital collection, where it appeared on a large nearby screen alongside submissions from other visitors, building a living, ever-growing gallery of custom shoe designs throughout the exhibit's run. My role included interactive design, programming, and installation.

A Unity-based touchscreen interactive inviting visitors to design their own protest sign and share it with others in the tradition of the exhibit's historical subjects. Built to connect visitors to the act of public expression, making the history of protest feel participatory rather than observed. My role included concept and content develoment, programming, and installation.

Vietnam Terrain Model

A 4-foot by 6-foot physical terrain model of Vietnam with key locations and operational areas marked, providing visitors with geographic and spatial context for the oral histories in the exhibit. Designed and fabricated to scale as a tactile reference anchoring the personal testimony to place. My role included 3d modeling, printing, and post processing of the model.

Interpretive label content developed and deployed across multiple platforms: from web-based CMS environments to Unity-driven interactive installations. Digital delivery expands accessibility beyond what print allows: visitors can adjust font size, switch between languages, and scan QR codes to take content home with them after leaving the gallery. Each label balances historical accuracy with accessibility, translating archival research into concise, visitor-facing language that works across screen sizes, contexts, and audiences. My role on these types of projects typically included content development, programming, and installation.

ArtifactView AR

A mobile augmented reality application allowing users to select from a library of 3D-scanned museum artifacts and place them in their real-world environment using their device camera. Touchscreen gestures let visitors scale and rotate each object freely, handling pieces that are typically behind glass or too fragile to touch. A guided view mode overlays contextual annotations onto key parts of the artifact, walking visitors through points of historical or material significance at their own pace. Built as a prototype for how museums could extend the exhibit experience beyond the physical gallery. My role on this project included everything from concept to completion, including programming and design.

The Listening Exhibit

The Listening Exhibit

A personal project exploring how an exhibit could notice the people in front of it and respond. A small camera-equipped computer watches for visitors and reacts in real time with custom lights and sound, tailored to who's there. Everything it needs, from the camera to the lights and speaker, is built into one compact, self-contained unit I designed and 3D-printed. In a museum, this kind of exhibit could vary its audio response based on how long someone lingers or whether they've visited before, creating a more personal, dynamic experience without needing staff to run it.
